The Akron Bar Association’s Annual J. Dean Carro Recent Developments in Criminal Law seminar originally took place on November 12, 2018. The seminar includes a legislative update and a review of recent decisions by the Supreme Court of Ohio and the United States Supreme Court.
In 1980 and 1981, Toledo was terrorized by a series of serial killings involving young couples parked in their cars, and several young women. One survivor of these attacks remained to tell of the tragic events. Anthony and Nathaniel Cook were suspects in these murders, but the cases remained unsolved for 2 decades.

This one-hour CLE presentation will provide an overview of Ohio’s gun laws, including a discussion of open carry, preemption, legislative initiatives, recent updates to concealed carry laws, and penalties for violation of Ohio’s gun laws.
